TRADITIONAL PROTOTYPE DESIGN
Urban, Suburban, or Rural
Size: 118,000 S.F. New Construction
Site: Urban, Suburban, or Rural
This 118,000 square foot traditional design prototype was developed to illustrate the design flexibility, depth and breadth of creativity that Carlson Architecture can offer to potential clients looking for a more traditional design. This church has familiar materials and architectural elements found in many turn of the century churches across America. Exterior masonry walls, exposed large timber trusses, tile floors, and a large steeple. The conceptual plan layout has been vastly improved over historical churches by enlarging the narthex/lobby/gathering space. The two level scheme provides for a compact design suitable for rural, suburban, or city sites. In addition to a traditional Nave “cross” plan, it incorporates a sound vestibule to buffer the worship from the fellowship space, a covered vehicular drop-off canopy, and an interior courtyard for reflection and prayer.
