Project Description
We developed this 118,000 square foot traditional design prototype to illustrate the design flexibility, depth and breadth of creativity that Carlson Architecture offers potential clients looking for a more traditional design. This church has familiar materials and architectural elements found in many turn of the century churches across America. Exterior masonry walls, exposed large timber trusses, tile floors, and a large steeple characterize this building. The layout of this particular design vastly improves its historical predecessors by enlarging the narthex/lobby/gathering space. The two level scheme provides for a compact design, suitable for rural, suburban, or city sites. In addition to a traditional cross shaped nave, we’ve incorporate a sound vestibule to buffer the sanctuary from the fellowship space, a covered vehicular drop-off canopy, and an interior courtyard for reflection and prayer.
